Why Saturday?

Many times when we tell people we meet on Saturday nights we get strange stares or blank looks.  “Why do you meet on Saturdays?”  is the question they ask. 

Originally when Liberty Christian Church began 10 years ago we did not have our own church building so we rented from other churches.  Those churches used their buildings all day Sunday leaving us with no opportunity to worship on Sunday.  So we chose Saturday nights.  When we bought the building that we are currently in four years ago, we liked Saturdays so much that we decided to keep meeting on Saturday nights.  Why?  Many people liked it too much.  Sundays had been opened up for them and they felt they were able to enjoy the full day with their families (not to mention they were able to sleep in), and that it felt more like a day of rest for them. 

We have found that when people first come as a guest to Liberty on a Saturday night they are sometimes hesitant because of it being a Saturday night.  But as time goes on and they keep coming back they realize that they, too, like having church on Saturday nights.  While it might not be for everyone, many who have been guests and then become members said that while they initially were hesitant, they now love having church on Saturday nights.
